2 Milestones

via Daily Prompt: Viable

Word count = 314 / reading time = 1 minute, 15 seconds

It isn’t understatement to say that I’m not a goal-setter or a detailed planner.  When I started blogging, at the urging of my Goodreads friend and fellow Blogger Steven Williams, whose erudite and informative philosophy blog A Questioner’s Journey you can find here, my only intent was to post the book reviews I was already posting on Goodreads and sometimes Amazon.  I never intended to reach an audience or become a member of a vibrant, stimulating, worldwide community; I wouldn’t have even considered that as a viable plan.  Hell, I barely had a plan at all, and my purpose in blogging, like my major in college 2 decades (2 DECADES!?!) ago, has undergone periodic changes and only faintly resembles what I would have thought it would look like down the road when I started, if I had thought that far ahead back then.

So imagine my surprise, 35 (now 36) posts and not quite 2 years later, to discover that, within the past 24 hours, my humble little blog has earned 100 followers and 500 likes.

Really? My blog, my thoughts & ideas, have enough significance or resonate so well with that many people around the world?  People from different countries, different cultures, male, female, both/neither/other, “normal” and “abnormal”, care enough about what I have to say that you’re willing to ride along with me for a little while?

Wow!  I am honored, a wee bit gratified, and a whole lot humbled.  With every fiber of my being, from my long, skinny, crooked fingertoes to my curly, thinning, graying hair, I thank you, all of you, each and every one of you, for your love, support, attention, and for sharing your thoughts with me as well.  I look forward to living this crazy, wonderful life with you for as long as you’re willing to hang on.

Take care, be well, and happy Blogging!

  1. First congratulations. Way to go. Yeah.

I want to also thank you for putting a link to my blog site in this post. And, thank you so much for your nice compliment.

I will admit to a tinge of jealousy. But, I understand why I have not the following that you another blogger I follow do. I feel it is in the nature of how and what I write about. However, I write in the main to express my ideas, and I am satisfied with my progress to date. Last month was second most in views, likes, and comments, and first in the number of visitors.

    Take care and keep blogging,

    1. I don’t think it’s your content, Steven, or the nature of how & what you write about. I’m pretty sure I owe my increased exposure to occasional participation on WordPress’s “Daily Post” and “Community Pool” writing prompts. Every time I do a pingback post to one of their prompts, I also visit several other Bloggers’ sites that they linked. I believe their reciprocity is what has earned me the additional views, likes, and follows.

I know you feature your new blog posts on several Goodreads discussion groups, but have you shared them here on the Daily Post or Community Pool blogs?

  2. First, congratulations Danny. It is well deserved. And to think you had actually thought about giving up at one point. I am so glad you withstood those self-doubts and stuck with it. Your posts are well thought out and written. It is natural that others would enjoy reading your thoughts. Keep up the good work Danny. From your loyal fan and friend, Tonya
