3 Days, 3 Quotes: Day 1

As far as I can remember, this marks the first time a fellow Blogger has invited me to participate in a Blogger Challenge.  My friend Sophia Ismaa at Sophia Ismaa Writes tagged me in the “3 Days, 3 Quotes” challenge.  Thank you, Sophia.  I’ll try not to botch it.  Sophia has a lovely Blog, interesting, entertaining, and diverse.  Please do give her a look.

My Day 1 quote is from Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge.   The title character is a bitter, judgmental, caustic if not quite toxic woman who eventually proves herself to be worthy of love and respect despite those considerable flaws.  I read and loved this book in February 2015, and if you’re interested, you can read my Goodreads review.

My Day 1 quote:  “Sometimes, like now, Olive had a sense of just how desperately hard every person in the world was working to get what they needed. For most, it was a sense of safety, in the sea of terror that life increasingly became.”

And isn’t that the truth?

Oh, I almost forgot.  The final part of the challenge is to tag 3 fellow Bloggers to join in the fun.  I nominate the following:  1) S.M Hart at Curious Hart.  2) Gypsy at Little Gypsy Blue.  3) Tony at Tony Burgess Blog.  I enjoy reading what these three say almost every time they post.  Tag, kids, you’re it!  Have fun.

And just because I’m a rebel, I’ll leave you with a bonus quote from Olive Kitteridge:  “And mentally, I don’t believe, really, that I am one bit more out of my head than any other creature here on earth.”
