AWR Monthly Update #1

via A Writer’s Reliquary

Hello friends and fellow Bloggers,

I hope you’re all doing well on this fine Tuesday morning.

America was bathed in the lunatic light of a full moon last night.  I slept the poorer for it, and traffic on the way in to work this morning was ridiculous.  After going to bed at 10:00 PM, I awoke at 1:23 AM, 2:26 AM, and 3:30 AM (my alarm goes off at 4:30 AM weekdays), and when I wasn’t awake, I was plagued by vivid, freakishly weird dreams including one of those waking dreams in which the immediate environment intrudes on the dream and makes you feel as if you’re awake and experiencing something impossible.  I apologize for withholding specifics, but modesty constrains me.

All that to say I had intended to write a new poem today in honor of the first of May, but I’m so frazzled that I seem to have not the slightest shred of creativity hidden up my sleeve.

What I do have to offer are two new words I encountered in my April reading, batteau and helot.  If you don’t already know one or both of those words and are interested, they’re listed alphabetically on my page A Writer’s Reliquary.

I hope you all have a lovely day filled with joy and inspiration.

Take care, be well, and happy Blogging!

Denny

  1. I’m with you, 4 to 5 at most. Only once in my life have I slept 8 hours. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I actually slept! lol. Hope your day is bright and as cheerful as you wished for us! Happy blogging when you can. Your always a delight.

      1. I can’t remember a time in my life, young or old, I slept. The only day I actually got 8 hours was the day both kids moved out. Now I’m busy with grand kids from 6 am until midnight while trying to write stories, some of which come as I sleep, so I’m up scribbling so I won’t forget, lol. The story of my life, sleepless nights, lol. You’d think I’d accomplish so much as I’m up! anyway. I do I guess, but quietly as not to disturb others.

      2. I have to comment, I liked your original picture, it wasn’t a negative thing. I thought it fantastic that the set up made you appear to be watching. It’s like those fabulous paintings you have to buy because it’s as though the person in the pic is alive. Still I enjoy the “new you” you present too.

      3. Thank you, Phyllis. I worried at first that the main pic on my blog was too big, but I was unable to format it any smaller. Oh well, screw it! I’ve seen plenty of other people with their face splashed larger than life across the screen. If they can do it, why can’t I?

  2. Oh, my, you were right – your night of sleep was horrible, too! Hope last night was better and that you’re feeling refreshed and ready to attack the day with gusto! Happy Wednesday, Denny!

  3. I had some really odd dreams myself this week. Working for an old boss, doing mundane work I hated, then in a dorm room again trying to hide that I was smoking from — who I’m not sure. I don’t smoke, so that alone is odd. I hide under the bed and tried to cover my sister to protect her from being scene. I think I should call her, make sure she’s okay. It was a really vivid dream.

  4. Oh don’t be modest – Stephen wouldn’t be!!!
I hate sleep-deprivation. With a passion. Trust this end of the week has been more full of good sleeps
