I’ve designated this first week of June 2020 as Awareness Week in light of the struggles America is currently experiencing. To help expand folks’ consciousness, I’m sharing a song a day from an album every concerned, patriotic American needs to hear and be moved by. Tennessean Will Hoge is a talented, soulful singer-songwriter. In 2012, he was fed up with all that he saw going on so produced the EP Modern American Protest Music. Every track is as timely now as it was then. Today’s track is “Founding Fathers”, who must be turning over in their graves indeed. Enjoy and be moved.
It’s tempting to blame Supreme Leader Trump for a lot of what we’re going through right now, but this unbearable moment is not his fault; it’s ours. Trump is simply the most vocal vector for and prominent symptom, not the cause, of our insanity. He’s a boil that needs to be lanced, filled with the festering pus of conspiracy theory-fueled rage & resentment that’s been growing for decades. If we can quickly & safely excise him at the ballot box this November, maybe we’ll elect a decent human being as our next leader, one who knows the value of treating all people with kindness, compassion, and respect.
Let’s do our best to grin & bear it and get through it together. Peace, y’all.
Love,
Denny♥

It’s a great idea, Denny. I think there will be many new protest songs and folk songs more generally that are written on these events.
